But as her daughter always reminded her, once you fall off a horse you just have to get back on again. So that's what she did.

She emailed a few men via the dating site and hoped she would not only get a response but also that it would not be just another brief encounter again. She hoped they were a better class of man on this dating site. She hoped that for the first time in a very long time it had the chance of going somewhere. It seemed it was hard to find someone who was interested when she was nearing forty but harder still when they learned of her teenager daughter. Julie, her daughter, was a godsend and would often tell her mother that she did not look as old as she was, and at her age who did not have any baggage.

However, Susan knew that Julie was not going to be a permanent fixture in her life. Soon Julie would be going to university, leaving home and wanting to start her own life.
